Hey Researchers,
Today’s newsletter was supposed to promote this cool new series by Tibor Dieters— but all the pieces sold out as soon as the post went live on Metalabel. Tibor is a long time DNR member and an artist whose work we have published many times in the past. Its heartening to see people support projects in the community and to continue to build a platform for these conversations.
This is a format we will be experimenting with over the coming year. After three years of publishing we have built a large and dedicated audience that cares about these topics. Our next step in promoting the artists we celebrate and admire is to make their works available and accessible. Keep an eye out for a some publications and artworks dropping in the next few weeks and months.
In other news, we are making slow but steady progress on DNR’s 501c3 non-profit status. The paperwork process is long and mostly includes waiting on approval timelines from various state agencies. All together, we expect to have the official not-for-profit status sometime in 2025. We will probably throw a big party to celebrate.
Lastly, the forthcoming 2024 book will come out next year. We’ve now synced our annual anthology publication to the calendar year to keep things simple. Our earlier publications Do Not Research 2021-2022 and Do Not Research 2022-2023 are still available in the 2nd edition.
Thanks everyone for your support. A few years ago this project was just a chat room for artists. We’re doing a hyperstition on this one. Its exciting to look forward!
Feverish online imagery merges with a traditional symbol of Dutch heritage. Delft Pol/der Tiles join the contemporary and historical as well as the high and low of culture.
Tibor Dieters is an Amsterdam based artist whose work explores alienation, radicalization, and collective myth-making. His installations, photography, and digital projects explore how fringe online communities exert unprecedented influence over cultural and political identity.
Delft Pol/der (2024) is a series of over 120 tiles, each 5.8 x 5.8”, produced as transfer pigment prints onto porcelain. A small selection of signed, editioned works are made available here.
Our increasingly uncertain future has caused many people journey online for answers. With the surge of fringe political identities gaining mainstream popularity in the Netherlands over the past few years, the separation between the online and offline worlds has dissolved.
This project explores the emergence of conspiracy as collective myth-making and shared fictions that make themselves real. It is a series of internet ephemera made tangible, to embody the newfound influence that previously fringe online communities now have in shaping real world culture and politics.
A set of 10 signed and editioned works are available here.
