The grammarly suggestion was indeed darkly funny, and I resonate with the need for digital and physical dérive.

I see a connection between general anti-social behaviour and feeds becoming instruments to serve us what we think we want. Being a normal functioning human being that interacts with others requires navigating social dynamics that are messy and not always comfortable, without unduly disrupting the social order (ie. being weird and breaking social etiquette). Connecting with others means not always getting what you want.

Communal etiquette does not and, save for perhaps some smaller dark forest spaces, cannot exist online. The only way to truly undo the bipolar-inducing effect that slopfeeds have on your psyche is to interact with people more than platforms.

Touching grass is not as easy as it sounds; it's less physical effort than mental. You are choosing humanity, you are choosing social connection, you are choosing to rebuild the human side of you that has been lost to algorithmic black holes.

The graph of depression coincides with increased social media use. Whether or not there is a direct correlation, I think there is certainly a need to get people talking to one another again. That can be done if I give you a task or you give me a task. Still pretty boring, eh? So make a game with small teams. This can work. gimme a holler if you want to know more < jsuter at sbcglobal dot net >
